24 Hour Concern
When two hitmen
work different shifts,
you know they are going
to get you eventually.
The dayshift guy,
he works in the streets,
is hidden in the faces
of strangers and friends
alike, quick on the draw
with a sneer.
The nightshift one hides
under your pillow and waits.
In the morning you wake
with a crick in your neck
from the barrel of his gun.
His bullets shoot
into your dreams.
